The cottage is available to hire at any time but a two night minimum applies.

We have 2 rates for the cottage: £200 & £250 per night: The £200 rate applies to weekday nights (Sun-Thurs), the £250 rate is for weekends (Friday & Saturday).


These are available at quieter times – from November to February.

Mid-week break – stay 3 nights for the price of 2: £400 (Sunday to Thursday only).

Weekend Special – stay 2 nights at the weekend and have a 3rd night for half price: £625.

Full week (Friday to Friday) – 2 free nights (one weekday & one weekend): £1050.

Special occasions

Bank Holiday weekends: 3 night minimum stay, all nights charged at weekend rates.

24th & 25th of December: £750 for the two nights.

31st Dec & 1st Jan: £850 for both nights.

Included in the price

Breakfast pack: A basic breakfast pack will be waiting for you at The Cottage, sufficient to keep you going on your first morning so you don’t have to worry about going shopping, etc, before you get there.  You’ll find The Ship’s House Granola, artisan bread by the local Lighthouse Bakery, yoghurt, butter, milk, coffee…that sort of thing.

Wood: The fireplace will be stacked with logs but if you run out while you’re here, let us know and we’ll organise a refill.

Laundry: Sheets, towels, etc.


In cottage dining: there are a range of things from our menu that we can prepare and put in the fridge for you in advance of your arrival with instructions on how to cook – things like the Ship’s special fish pie, pork & blackbean stew, spinach and feta cheese pie, etc. We’ll send you The Ship’s menu in advance and you can select what you’d like from there. (24hrs minimum notice required).

In cottage drinking: if you’d like Champagne / Wine / Beer, etc, chilled and waiting for you in the fridge just let us know – we’ll send you The Ship’s wine list in advance and you can select from there.

If you’re not going to have a car when you’re here then people often hire bikes – if you’d like us to arrange them for you, just let us know when you book.

If you are arriving by train and need some help getting your bags up to the cottage, taxis are available outside the station, and they will be happy stop by the Ship to collect keys. Or if you know what time you’re arriving, let us know in advance and we can arrange it for you.

We take a 50% deposit on booking, with the balance due not less than 14 days in advance of your stay. This must be paid by direct transfer, and account details will follow with confirmation of your booking. If you need to cancel with less than four weeks notice, the deposit is forfeit. With less than two weeks notice, the total amount is due. Cancellations must be by email to
