…do look around…

Entrance to the cottage

Up some steep steps, mind your head.

Main bedroom

Wooden panelled walls, lots of beams, wooden floors, leaded windows…

The fireplace is really special. It’ll be fully stacked with logs for your arrival and if you run out during your stay, just let us know and we’ll bring you some more.

Eating area

The eating area is open plan to the living room and looks out into the garden.

Making it possible to delude yourself that you might do a bit of work while you’re down here…

The kitchen is small, but well organised and will be stocked with breakfast things including juice, local artisan bread, The Ship’s house granola, Illy coffee, preserves, etc.

Living Room

The living area has sofas on either side of the fireplace and doors out into the garden.

Here’s the bathroom… Note: There’s no overhead shower as the ceiling is quite low.

Window seat

For important thoughts.

The garden is a quite wild…but in a good way!  There’s quite a bit going on, whatever the time of year – April & May in particular are great – April for the giant Magnolia which covers most of the lawn and May for the Wisteria which is spectacular to say the least…

Kitchen window

Looks out onto the lane which can be fun if you want to listen to the local lane politics – it’s very entertaining – for those who don’t live there (less so for those who do!).

More windows

There’s a limit to what can be said about a window and I think we’ve possibly hit it.

Dog Friendly

As with all the properties managed by The Ship, The Cottage is dog friendly.  Let us know you’re bringing one (or four) and we’ll make sure there are plenty of towels, treats and toys kicking about. Note: Dogs are allowed in all areas of the cottage but ideally NOT on the sofas or the beds [...]

Kids Welcome (rather than kid-friendly)

Important distinction here. This is a cottage entirely designed for adults and older kids. That doesn’t mean you can’t bring small children, but please be aware that there are lots of child related hazards here – from ponds in the garden to things like matches, firelighters next to fires, etc, etc. SO ANYWAY – THE [...]

House Rules

No smoking. Not because we’re boring or judgemental – you just can’t! We’ve made sure there are lots of nice spots outside for smokers so you shouldn’t feel too shunned… No drugs. Well, obviously. No rowdy house parties. It’s just not that kind of place…
